When and where is the Jamboree?
The Jamboree will be held between 29th July and 5th August 2017 at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre, Blanefield, Glasgow, G63 9BA, Scotland.
Traditionally the Auchengillan Jamboree has been organised by a Regional team. This time, after a number of successful events at the Centre, the Auchengillan Team will be planning, organising and delivering AJ17. We are looking forward to some exciting new activities, an Explorer only Sub Camp and Programme, AJ's All American Diner - adult free zone, opening carnival and much more.
How old do I need to be to attend as a participant?
The Jamboree is open to both Scouts and Guides aged between 10 and 17. If your date of birth is between 30/07/1999 and 29/07/2007 you are eligible to attend as a participant.
Can Explorers come by themselves without a leader?
No. You must book with a leader, however we are running an Explorer only sub camp and programme, supported by an experienced sub camp team. If you have Explorers attending with your unit, they are welcome to camp with your group or on the Explorer sub camp. Just let us know your preference at time of booking.
What if I am over 18 can I still come?
The fun and adventure doesn't stop when you turn 18. We are looking for volunteers to fill a variety of roles. Previous experience is not essential all you need is a positive, can do attitude. The cost to come as a staff member is £112 catered or £84 if you wish to self cater. To apply for a staff role please complete a staff application form. If you would like more information on the range of roles available, or if you have particular skill sets that you think would be useful to us, please let us know.
I'm a member of Senior Section can I come?
Yes. You can attend as participant with a unit if you are aged between 14-17 years, or as a leader or member of staff if you are over 18 years. You are welcome to camp along with your group or as part of our Explorer Sub Camp.
How much does it cost to bring my group to AJ17?
The cost per participant is £ 175. This includes all activities, camping, neckie and a chance to make new friends from all over the world. The price excludes your transport to and from the Jamboree and food.
How much does it cost to come as a leader with my section?
It costs £84 for leaders. This includes camping for the week, neckie and access to AJ's bar with leader entertainment and leader only activity evenings.
