THE Tarragindi Scouts will celebrate six decades of fun and learning this weekend.
Member of 23 years, John Baldock, said there were many scouting-mad families like his who would be joining the Diamond Jubilee festivities on Sunday.
“I got involved with the Tarragindi Scouts when my son (Evan) was eight years old,” Mr Baldock said.
“My wife took him up there, came home and said, ‘I’ve put you in as a parent helper for next week’ and I said, ‘what?’, and told her I would do it once. And so … I’ve been there for 23 and a half years.”
Mr Baldock said his grandson Jackson Waterhouse had joined the group and would be awarded his scout medallion at the celebration on Sunday.
The event will be held on Sunday, from 10am-2pm, at the Tarragindi Scout Den, 31 Newington St, Tarragindi. Activities include supervised ropes course, badge bickie decoration competition, knot tying and tent raising. A group parade and plaque dedication will be held at noon.
