From Reigate to Brighton to raise money for her Japan trip
PEDAL power will help a Reigate schoolgirl get to Japan.
Molly Meese, 15, will cycle from Reigate to Brighton on Saturday to help fund her visit to the World Scout Jamboree in July.
An Explorer with the 30th Reigate (Slipshoe Street) Scout Group, she will be among 25,000 Scouts worldwide attending the event.
Molly, who goes to Reigate School, must raise £3,000 to fund her trip.
She has already done an 18-mile sponsored walk, sold cakes and made gifts to raise some of the money.
Riding alongside Molly will be her father Nick.
Finch Cycles of Bell Street have provided her with a bike for the day.
Sponsors backing her – at mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/mollymeese – will be entered into a raffle for a Japanese-style prize.
Any funds raised beyond the £3,000 will go towards the group's new Scout hall.
e will include module activities, subcamp life, interaction and exchange with Scouts gathered from all around the world, with the essence of the theme.
During the jamboree, participants will be taking part in themed activities such as the Global Development Village, Hiroshima Peace Memorial and the Nagasaki Peace Forum.
